Awe Creative client CDEC has won the Education Project of the Year Award at the 2017 AV News Awards, held this morning at ISE.
CDEC was recognised for its outstanding work with Goldsmiths, University of London, a public research university specialising in the arts, design, humanities and social sciences.
CDEC worked with Goldsmiths to commission, supply and install AV systems into 91 rooms across the campus. These rooms covered six area types, including large performance spaces, teaching spaces, meeting rooms and mobile solutions with the intention being to develop a futureproof solution that created the best learning environment possible for students. Kit installed included Sony laser projectors, NEC displays and Shure microphones.
As with many education installs, the project faced time constraints. In view of this, CDEC opted to build, configure and programme the majority of kit offsite, enabling a completed room of kit to be wheeled in. This cut each room’s downtime considerably and turned what was due to be a 30-month roll out into a 9-month project.
David Swayne, chief information officer at Goldsmiths, said: “CDEC is the best AV company that I have worked with – the success of our project is largely due to the excellent and flexible attitude of the CDEC team and the quality of their work.”
Speaking at the awards presentation, Toni Barnett, managing director of CDEC, said: “We are thrilled to have once again been recognised by AV News and to receive this award. The Goldsmiths project was a challenging one but the end result has been incredibly well received. We were able to significantly reduce the time each teaching space was out of use with our innovative off-site build and we’ve had a lot of positive comments from senior management at the university.”
