With InfoComm 2017 starting in Orlando tomorrow, we take a look at what’s new this year and highlight some of the conferences and tech you won’t want to miss.
With over 1,000 exhibitors and 46,000sqm of exhibit space at the Orange County Convention Center, navigating InfoComm 2017 may be a challenge, so we’ve rounded up some of the likely highlights.
This year’s event will host the first TIDE – Technology, Innovation, Design, Experience – conference. This thought-leadership conference will look at how content, space and technology can come together to communicate brand values, immerse customers in exceptional experiences and ultimately, contribute to the bottom line. Highlights include keynotes from Nonny de la Pena, CEO, Emblematic Group and Virtual Reality Pioneer, who will discuss The Power of Immersive Storytelling, and Pixar Story Veteran Matthew Luhn, who will tackle the subject of Storytelling for Business.
Another innovation for InfoComm 2017 is Center Stage, a series of 20-minute talks on the exhibition floor by leading technology practitioners, end-users, researchers and thinkers. Free to attend, these sessions will discuss environmental design and technology integration across fields as diverse as entertainment, enterprise, healthcare, education and hospitality.
The Immersive Pavilion is new for 2017, offering hands-on demos of VR, 360 video and augmented reality. Or head to the Innovations Showcase to meet new companies with innovative solutions for commercial AV and vote for the Most Innovative Product award. Companies in attendance include live streaming platform BoxCast and Crowd Mics, which turns phones into wireless mics to encourage audience interaction. Other first-time exhibitors include BroaMan, Kling & Freitag, Lightworks Interactive and Brainstorm.
AV Tech Tours return for 2017 with new venues to explore. Pre-booking for these is essential and many are already sold out, but there is still a chance to get up-close and personal with members of the Blue Man Group’s cast and technical crew with a 30-minute Q&A in their theatre after the show. Attendees can also discover how the Orlando Science Museum uses AV technology to forge a hands-on connection with scientific concepts ranging from meteorology, to climate change. Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at exhibits that use broadcast, projection mapping and virtual reality technologies to create fun, impactful learning experiences. You may even get to visit Mars in the immersive new Space Base exhibit.
When it comes to new technology, Bose is set to debut its EdgeMax loudspeakers, MB210 compact subwoofer and Panaray MSA12X loudspeaker and ZeeVee will showcase its third-generation ZyPer4K AV over IP solution. Black Box is set to launch its 4K Quad Multiviewer, while TechLogix will show its new TLXpress AVoIP system. Finally Absen’s M-series will debut in Orlando and Alcons will be demonstrating its Pro-Ribbon technology.
